The "Non-Profit" Illusion
if I told you to picture a charity—a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization—what comes to mind?
Now, what if I told you to picture a beautifully manicured soccer complex in Frisco or Plano. The parking lot is full of luxury SUVs, kids are wearing $400 worth of gear, and the parents are paying annual fees that rival state college tuition.
According to the IRS, many of the giants running North Texas youth soccer—like Solar Soccer Club, Dallas Texans, and Sting—are in the same tax bracket as a soup kitchen
That is the massive disconnect we are digging into today. We’re looking at a new report titled "The Non-Profit Illusion." It turns out, that "non-profit" status is often just a shield for executive enrichment, aggressive asset accumulation, and in some cases… straight-up fraud.
